In 2011, the Military Special Needs Network, a Washington state-based support group for families in the military with special needs children, decided that it was time for the group to go nationwide and wanted a new logo to better represent their organization. The existing logo was a military tag with colored puzzle pieces and stenciled type.
The group name alone does not signify family or support; therefore, the logo has to work in conjunction with the name to communicate these attributes in a manner that does not exclude any group or disability. Working closely with the co-founders of the group, I designed and presented a number of logo concepts, of which they selected one. The logo is used in multiple applications including their website, social media, and printed promotional items.
